Scott Fink: Steering Business and Philanthropy in Tampa Bay

This study presents an in-depth analysis of the entrepreneurial journey of an individual, Scott Fink, within the auto sales industry, through a series of interviews.

Data collected and analyzed through the grounded-theory approach to industry interviews explores the multifaceted nature of entrepreneurship, emphasizing the critical roles of relationships, financial freedom, opportunism, persistence, survival, and leadership in achieving business success.

Drawing upon Stevenson’s Opportunity-Based Theory of Entrepreneurship, the research underscores the significance of pursuing opportunities irrespective of current resources and the importance of value creation through customer relationships and community engagement. The findings highlight the complex interplay between personal experiences, industry dynamics, and entrepreneurial success, offering a nuanced understanding of the pathways to achieving financial independence and making a societal impact. This study contributes to the entrepreneurship literature by providing empirical insights into the application of theoretical frameworks in a real-world context and suggesting directions for future research on the evolving landscape of entrepreneurial opportunities.
